ATA organises technical conferences, focused on sciences related to the automotive product, in order to offer the opportunity to discuss the state of the art and trends in the most promising disciplines, allowing a dialogue between industries, universities and research centres, of different Countries. ATA is supported by international technical committees, created in co-operation with CNR. The Committees for Electronics, for Advanced methodologies and for Infomobility are operating.

ATA collects papers presented to its conferences.

ATA is one of the founding members of:

 FISITA (International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies) in 1948.

EAEC (European Automotive Engineers Co-operation) in 1984.
